Membership Options

Membership Options include Primary, Secondary or Affiliate options. Learn more below.

Primary Membership

Ready to Become a Commercial REALTOR® Member?

Becoming a primary member of RICABOR offers valuable networking opportunities, professional development, and access to resources that enhance your real estate career.

To become a primary member of the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors (RICABOR), you typically need to follow these steps:

1. Eligibility:

  • You should hold a valid real estate license in Rhode Island or be a certified appraiser.
  • You may need to be associated with a brokerage that is also a member of RICABOR or meet other professional criteria.

2. Application Process:

  • Complete the Membership Application available on the RICABOR website or contact them directly for a form.
  • Submit proof of your real estate license or appraiser certification.

3. Membership Dues:

  • Pay the required membership dues. This typically includes local, state, and national REALTOR® dues (if you’re not already a member of another board).
  • Dues vary, so check with RICABOR for the current rates.

4. Code of Ethics Training:

  • You’ll be required to complete the NAR Code of Ethics training within a specific timeframe (often within your first year of membership).

5. MLS Access (Optional):

  • If desired, you can apply for access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) via RICABOR.

Once these steps are completed, you should be granted primary membership, giving you access to a variety of resources, networking opportunities, and professional development programs.

Secondary Membership

Do you sell some Commercial Real Estate and want to do more?
Secondary membership provides access to RICABOR’s local benefits, networking, and educational resources, while you maintain your primary membership with another board.

To become a secondary member of the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors (RICABOR), follow these steps:

1. Eligibility:

  • You must already be a primary member of another REALTOR® board or association.
  • You will need to provide proof of your current primary membership and that you are in good standing with your primary association.

2. Application Process:

  • Complete the Secondary Membership Application from RICABOR. This can typically be found on their website or obtained by contacting the organization directly.
  • Submit the application along with a letter of good standing from your primary board.

3. Membership Dues:

  • As a secondary member, you only pay the local dues to RICABOR. You will not need to pay NAR or state dues again, as these are covered through your primary membership.

4. Code of Ethics Training:

  • Ensure you are up to date on your NAR Code of Ethics training, which is typically required for all REALTOR® members.

Affiliate Membership

This membership allows you to engage with the real estate community without holding a real estate license.

To become an affiliate member of the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors (RICABOR), follow these steps:

1. Eligibility:

  • Affiliate membership is available for individuals or businesses that are not licensed real estate agents but offer services related to real estate, such as mortgage lenders, home inspectors, attorneys, or insurance agents.

2. Application Process:

  • Download or Request the Application: You can find the Affiliate Membership Application on the RICABOR website or contact them directly to obtain one.
  • Fill Out the Application: Provide your personal or company details, and describe the nature of your services.
  • Submit the Application: You will need to send the completed form to RICABOR, either by email or physical mail, depending on their submission preferences.

3. Membership Dues:

  • Affiliate members typically pay an annual fee, which is generally lower than full REALTOR® member dues. The exact fee will be provided by RICABOR.

4. Benefits of Affiliate Membership:

  • Networking opportunities with local real estate professionals.
  • Access to RICABOR events, seminars, and educational opportunities.
  • Listing in the RICABOR affiliate directory, giving you exposure to the real estate community.
